“Tis the Season for WEDDINGS”
I am currently on my way to my best friend’s daughter’s wedding. I’m not driving (in case you wondered) I think next to the holiday celebrations that my family and I enjoy, wedding’s top my favorite things to attend!
Most brides are absolutely stunning, and for months, it is hard to talk to them about anything, but their gushing over their beloved, and the details, details, details. Often, because of their gushing, conversation can get a bit “stale”, but generally, only for the listener! The truth is, there is nothing more exciting than LOVE! Brides and grooms carry their hopes for their future, the dreams of sharing their life with that special someone, and having a family of their own! OH, how I remember that excitement, and preparing for that day!
The young woman whose wedding I am attending today is also beautiful inside and out! I know when I see her, I will probably cry. This brings me to thinking about all the emotions of each and every family member and participant in today’s event.
My favorite movie of all time is the Princess Bride, and every time I think of a wedding, I hear “mawage, mawage is what bwings us togeva today” “Mawage that bwessed awwangement”… and, as much of a blessing as it can be, and is, it is probably also one of the most stressful occasions for all the wedding party! Starting with the bride, the groom, the attendants, the parents who paid for it, and what if there are groomsmen who might “lock their knees” and then faint! I have seen a few of those on YouTube! Oh dear!
I would like to suggest a few things that will make it a bit easier for those of you with a “bwessed event” coming up this summer! Hire a planner!! BUT, if you cannot do that due to budget, then get yourself a planner, of the old fashioned kind, and write down all of the MUSTS with your beloved. Once completed, invite your family members and friends in, especially those with attention to details to help you carry out the vision, and shoulder the load. Weddings really take a team effort. Look for those that understand that, and can offer suggestions, but those that remember, this is YOUR day are best! It will also be so much less stressful as you have those who will carry the load with you, and those you can release to take care of a few of the tasks, so you can focus on the most important things!
As I watch this beautiful gal get married today, and I look at her dress, her flowers, her decorations, and the loved ones around her, I know, that it took a team, made up of friends and family. There was so much support easing her load, and helping to minimize stress, so that today, she will shine, and it will be one of the brightest shines of her entire life! I am so grateful to get to be a part!!!
Whether you are a bride, or someone you know will be a bride, let’s consider sharing the load! It is so wonderful to serve at these times!
“This is your Wedding, do what you love! Invite the people you want. Dance to the songs that bring you most joy. Eat the best food you’ll ever have. Be the King and Queen of the rest of your life. Enjoy all moments. Share the photographs with your children and grandchildren. Most of all, spend the rest of your days with the person you love!”
Wishing you health and wellness!
